Consultation, Design, Resourcing and Instruction

Welcome!

I offer natural building consultation, design and resourcing services for homeowners, architects, contractors,  project managers and others. I also provide instruction for homeowners, aspiring builders and the public.

I am currently offering free instruction at several upcoming natural building work sessions, taking place at a client's property in Crow, OR. Please contact me if you are interested.

In May of 2010, a silent partner and I  became  licensed, bonded and insured as Oregon Contractors. We hope to build safe, comfortable and natural homes for our community.

Contact me if you have a natural building project and need a little more guidance.

Natural building is a movement of builders, activists, homeowners and others who are finding new ways to become self-reliant, ecologically sustainable and socially responsible using appropriate building practices.

I pride myself on working with individual clients to create high-quality, beautiful spaces with rounded organic shapes. These spaces tend to be more comfortable than standard rectilinear spaces with sharp points. I also try to use as many local, on-site materials as possible, which lowers carbon footprints while inpsiring resourcefulness and creativity.

If you are interested in building with earth, cob, straw, wood or stone, I can be your personal resource throughout the building process. I have four years of natural building experience, ten years of conventional building experience and a Degree in Natural Building Design and Construction Management from UMass, Amherst.

I also completed a Finishing Team apprenticeship with the Cob Cottage in 2007, and have since been an assistant instructor at workshops and courses. Some of the photos you see here are from my work at the Cob Cottage.

If you need to source materials or products for any natural building project or LEED project, I can help.

Most of us who live here in the Northwest feel an amazing sense of wonder and beauty from our region. Since we value it so much, many of us are finding new ways to be respectful of and live in harmony with this amazing ecology.

Fortunately, a few brave souls have sourced things like sustainable hardwoods. Check the
FSC Certified Lumber Page  or  Contact me for more information.
